Get Involved

There are several ways you can help Learn to Read of St. Johns County make a difference and improve local literacy:

Donate

Private funds are always needed and appreciated. You can make a secure online donation to Learn to Read here. To make other arrangements or to donate tutoring materials, call the office at (904) 826-0011.

Volunteer

There are several volunteer opportunities available at Learn to Read. Contact us to volunteer in our office, help with special events and fundraisers or become one of our many tutors.

Tutors complete a one-day course training course. The courses are held frequently and teach tutors how to help adult students improve their literacy skills or learn English as a second language (ESL).

To participate, tutors should plan on volunteering two or three hours per week. This time will be spent planning lessons and working with students. Learn to Read asks tutors to commit to volunteering for six months; a stable relationship with a dedicated tutor helps students stay motivated as they fit difficult lessons into already busy lives.
